| Become a Volunteer Firefighter and answer the call to help your community! South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department is actively seeking new members. We need volunteers to join our department as firefighters,
drivers, and support personnel. Volunteer firefighting is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have. As a Volunteer Firefighter,
we are continually training to respond to emergencies, including structure fires, grass fires, vehicle accidents, downed power lines, gas leaks,
medical calls, and as we found out this year, even tornados. We also play a vital role in educating the community in fire safety.
The South Van Zandt Volunteer Fire Department is a community organization that has provided over 25 years of fire suppression, 1st Responder, fire prevention, and rescue services. Our members contribute to and engage in these activities to protect and preserve life and property from damage, whether from fire or other emergencies in South Van Zandt County and we provide assistance to our neighbors through Mutual Aid to neighboring departments when requested or needed.
There are many benefits being a member of a volunteer fire department, including helping our community and the personal rewards and satisfaction that comes from helping a neighbor. A community of volunteers is always there for each other. There are several positions in our department and there just might be one that’s just right for you. No experience? No problem, we can train you! We have “Volunteering” opportunities for all experience levels. We have JUNIOR FIREFIGHTERS, FIREFIGHTERS, and EMT positions available.
