February 1996 - James Lunceford donated a 2-ton truck to build a tank truck.

April 1996 - A 2-ton truck has been donated for Station 2 by Jerry Don Daniel. Gary Corley has appointed lieutenants to each station: Jeremy Meredith Station 1, Nelson Patrick Station 2, Cisco Pridgen Station 3

September 1996 - Gary Corley reported that a county firefighters organization has been started to be called Van Zandt County Fire Chief and Firefighters Association.

July 1996 - Our department voted not to become part of a county-wide fire district.
|
November 1996 - Gary Corley reported that the department has been awarded another grant from the Texas Commission on fire Protection for $10,600 to buy bunker gear and air packs.
|
December 1996 - Rod Bass joined as firefighter. Gary Diehl appointed to board of directors and Steve Baskin as Lieutenant Station 2. Janet Bass appointed Secretary.
